Help South Hills centre this Mandela day
Let’s make a date of Monday, July 18 at Look Forward Creativity Centre, number 2, 4, 6 and 10 Messina Street, South Hills Extension 1.
THIS Mandela Day, Caxton South office, The Glen shopping centre, Panarottis, Netcare Hospitals and some members of the community are taking time to make a difference at South Hills’ Look Forward Creativity Centre.
If you never considered celebrating Mandela Day as a global movement, try it this year as an individual, business, church, corporate or as a social group on July 18. This day is a global movement where you can donate your money and your time to mobilise your organisation to do something for those in need.
The centre is in a poor condition and they need more support from individuals and businesses with donations of paint, paintbrushes, gutters, plumbing pipes, doors, etc. Any donations of furniture and any other basic household appliances will be greatly appreciated.
The Glen shopping centre and Netcare Hospitals will be bringing their maintenance teams to the home and getting work done.
Some of the rooms that need urgent attention in the centre are:
• Home of the toddlers (Holly Angels) – this home for toddlers in the main house is in need of restoration as walls are cracked.
• Home for the boys (The Holy Family) – here they need painting. Bright colours would be ideal to uplift the mood in the room.
• Home of the girls (The Good Samaritan) – it also needs painting and plastering.
• Home for teenage boys (St Christopher) – more donations are needed for the boys
• Ironing area – Some good-quality irons can help the centre.
