The event will be a fun-filled one with lots of entertainment and a seven-a-side soccer mini tournament.
The non-profit organisation, The REC Wellness Centre, dedicated to dealing with drug addiction and recovery in the South of Johannesburg, will host a fund-raiser to help the youth of the South and organisers are inviting all residents and companies to show their support.
The centre, located at 6 Harry Street (on the corner of Rifle Range Road) in Robertsham, provides an out-patient and an in-patient programme and offers services such as substance abuse intervention, detoxification referral, counselling, support groups, recovery coaching, family support groups and diversion programmes.
“We house approximately 50 clients, hence we are having ‘The REC fun weekend’ on the Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, to raise funds to assist the REC Centre with day to day costs and to purchase a combie,” said founder and councillor. Wayne Fearick,
The event will be a fun-filled one with lots of entertainment and a seven-a-side soccer mini tournament. There will be a tuck shop, car wash, face painting, jumping castle, 500 available stands and R100 boot sale.
The event will be hosted at the centre from 08:00 to 22:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Entrance will be charged at R50 per person and R20 for children under the age of 13.
