MEC Mashatile said that by voting, the residents contributed to deepening democracy.

The MEC of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements, Paul Mashatile, who is also running for mayor in the Johannesburg municipality, thanked residents of Gauteng for peaceful elections.
MEC Mashatile said that by voting, the residents contributed to deepening democracy and also solidified the democracy that enables them to choose who must lead them.
“I would also like to thank the Independent Electoral Commission for successfully planning and executing the elections,” said the MEC.
MEC Mashatile also thanked the South African Police Services for their role in ensuring peaceful elections.
