THE DA Johannesburg Region hosted their regional congress at Turffontein Racecourse on October 21.
Over 500 delegates descended on Turffontein to elect the party’s regional leadership for the next two years. The congress was also an opportunity for awards to be presented
Joburg South constituency walked away with two awards. The local constituency received the award for winning a ward off the ANC. Clr Peter Stewart of ward 125 and the branch leadership received their trophy.
The constituency was also recognised for beating its 2016 Election targets. Constituency political head Manny de Freitas (MP) and a large group of excited delegates from Johannesburg South went up on stage to collect their award.
“We worked very hard and reached all our targets,” explained de Freitas. He said that this could not have been achieved without the efforts of the activists that work tirelessly for the party’s cause.
