Alcohol and Drug Concerns (ADC) is still advocating for a drug-free society

THE West Turffontein NPO, Alcohol and Drug Concerns (ADC) is still advocating for a drug-free society.

Charlene Dearling, field and office manager for ADC said substance abuse is a disease that is spreading at an alarming rate.

“Those of us who are not on the ground cannot fathom the intensity of this family breaking, society crippling and individual destroying sickness. Substance abuse is an evil.

“We at ADC are passionate about educating our teenagers and youth about the dangers of substance use and ultimately abuse. Our aim is to get to the individual before the substance does. Our ethos is prevention and we strive to instil in the minds of the community members that they are worth so much and their potential will be locked away forever within the cloud of substance addiction,” she said.

There are new services at ADC as they now have a marriage officer on board. The new services include solemnisation of marriages, marriage counselling and support group counselling.

In order for ADC to continue to do preventative education in schools, prisons, youth groups, churches and corporate companies, they have partnered with a water supplier. The community can order the bottled water from them. All proceeds will help them to continue their work.

For more information, ADC can be contacted on 011 433 2372.
