South Hills pensioners helped to renew Sassa cards

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame said she set July 12 and 13 aside to try and help as many people as possible to renew their Sassa cards.

PENSIONERS, mothers, and people with disabilities from South Hills and surrounding areas were given assistance for two days (July 12 and 13) at the South Hills Recreation Centre with renewing their Sassa cards.

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame said she set these two dates aside to try and help as many people as possible to renew their Sassa cards.

“I was assisted by Willie Jacobs, an active pensioner in the community, in organising the Sassa officials to come to South Hills to assist our pensioners, people with disabilities and mothers with children to change their Sassa cards from the old cards to the new cards.

“The community was very grateful for this service that was offered to them. In the past, they had to stand in long lines at the post office to get this done. We are bringing service to the people to whom we are accountable. We assisted people from Ward 57 at the South Hills Recreation Centre as well as people from other neighbouring wards. The cut-off date for the renewal of cards is September this year. Ahead of this, I will announce another date to help those who did not make it in the two days,” she said.
