MOFFAT VIEW SAPS in conjunction with JMPD, CPF, local security companies and other various stakeholders yielded positive crime operations resulting in 46 arrests from October 15 to 22.
The suspects were apprehended for numerous crimes like drunken driving – 14, rape – one, assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm – six, assault common – three, drinking in public – seven, business break-in – two, possession of drugs – two, possession of ammunition – two, malicious damage to property – one, attempted murder – one, dealing in liquor – one, shoplifting – two and possession of unlicensed firearm and recovered unlicensed firearms – two.
Police further raided a total of 21 liquor outlets and seized large amounts of alcohol and two sound systems while 13 second-hand goods dealers were inspected.
In another incident, on October 22, crime prevention members apprehended five suspects for being in possession of house break-in implements in Rosettenville.
Police were busy with their patrol duties when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Conquest with five occupants driving along Verona Street. The vehicle was followed and pulled over. Upon searching the vehicle police found house break-in implements such as a pick head, crowbar, hammer and screwdriver. The suspects were arrested with immediate effect.
All suspects are expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate court soon.
