Dog found dead in Mondeor

René Parker appeals to animal owners to take care of their animals.

RENÉ Parker, founder of Cause4paws, was left devastated and stunned as she was alerted about a dead dog in the early morning of January 4 at the corner of Columbine Avenue and Daubeney Road in Mondeor.

The dog was found by Parker’s neighbour when she started looking for the cause of the bad odour that kept bothering her the entire night. In the morning she traced the smell and found a dead female pit bull.

Parker believes the dog’s owners left her alone during the festive season and came back recently only find out she had died and decided to dump her in the gutters. Parker told the COURIER some people aren’t caring for their pets and they only own them for absurd reasons.

“The amount of animal abuse and neglect over the holidays has been horrendous. I feel for these animals. It’s not right to see animals being treated the way they have been treated,” said Parker.

Parker sends a strong message to animal abusers and those abandoning their pets: “People like you should never be allowed to own animals again. Shame on you! You should be arrested and charged for neglect and animal abuse.”

She concluded: “Thanks to Pikitup’s special unit for collecting her. To all residents around Mondeor and surrounding areas that disregard the welfare of animals with fireworks, remember this is totally unacceptable.”
