AN ADRENALIN-DRIVEN, fun-filled and action-packed day was had by racers and spectators alike at the Dare2Dream downhill Go-Kart Derby in Walkerville on April 6.
Teams could either build their own go-karts or they could hire them out for the day.
The race starts at the top of a hill, where teams of four race to a 90 degree turn at the bottom, before crossing the finishing line.

The results were:
• First place was taken by Purple Lightning
• Second place went to BESA
• Third place went to Boogers
• The prize for most spirit was won by SM Plumbing
• The fastest time of the day went to BESA
• Best wipe-out went to SM Plumbing

All money raised from the event is donated towards the Dare2Dream Foundation.
The organisers want to thank Essential Harmony and Helen Taylor for donating prizes, Kaybee for providing the music and MCing, A-Shak for the donation, as well as Walkerville Hardware for donating sand used in the races.

More about Dare2Dream:
Dare2Dream (Reg No 039940 NPO) is a non-profit organisation involved in the rehabilitation of abused and neglected horses that, when healed, are used to assist in the healing of abused and neglected children.
The process of rehabilitating these horses can take up to two years before they are physically and emotionally stable to be integrated into programmes for healing humans. However, once healed, these horses make an invaluable contribution, and positive results in humans are often visible during the first contact.

As you can imagine, taking care of these horses is costly as they need medical care, food, water, etc, but it is definitely all worth it when one witnesses the positive results achieved and the joy they bring to many children who get to work with these horses in their own healing process.
