Lack of visa costs dancer his dream

Lehakwe's dream put on hold because of a visa.

Lehakwe Nzimande (17), a learner from Hoërskool President High School, wishes to see himself in Los Angeles in July.

This ambition comes after the 17-year-old received three silver medals and one gold medal for hip-hop in his age group and resulted in him being selected to represent South African in the World Championships of Performing Arts this coming July.

Lehakwe needed funds to make that dream a reality, and although many people reached out to assist him, he missed the deadline for his visa application.

He needed to get his visa before April 26, but it was delayed, seeing him losing out on an opportunity of a lifetime.

He told the COURIER all he wanted was to showcase his talent to the world, but now all of that has been put on hold.

Lehakwe Nzimande hopes that his dream will stay alive.

“I believe there’s nothing that can be done at this stage. All that I have to do is to keep on working hard and see what tomorrow holds for me. If someone can provide help, I will be thrilled and excited to see my dream of performing in the States a reality,” he said.
