Service delivery blitz in Glenanda North
One of the outcomes of the service delivery blitz is the grass has been cut along Amanda Avenue all the way to Orpen Road, outside The Glen Shopping Centre.
WITH reference to the article published in Comaro CHRONICLE on April 24, page 1 (GNRA tired of promises), Ward 56 councillor Michael Crichton said he’s pleased to announce some of the concerns raised in the article have been addressed.
“After I consulted with the MMC for Community Development, councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba, it was agreed the suburb would receive a level-two service delivery blitz.”
One of the outcomes of the service delivery blitz, which was done on May 2, is the grass has been cut along Amanda Avenue all the way to Orpen Road, outside The Glen Shopping Centre.
“This should be a relief to both pedestrians and motorists as the pedestrians will no longer be forced to walk in the road and the motorists will have a greater amount of visibility when driving through the area. I understand now the grass is cut the litter on the side of the road is more visible. In light of this, I will request Pikitup to also send litter pickers to the area. There was also a concern regarding potholes in Amanda Avenue and the majority of them have now been fixed. I will continue to work on all the other issues brought to my attention,” Crichton said.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Glenanda North Residents Association (GNRA) for the two clean-ups they arranged in the area. It is not always easy to get services rendered in all areas as the City’s new administration inherited infrastructure backlogs on all fronts. It is for this reason executive mayor Clr Herman Mashaba introduced the concept of A Re Sebetseng, where residents and the private sector are encouraged to assist with keeping the city clean. The two clean-ups GNRA held is in line with this concept and I am grateful for that. I would also like to thank another private resident who has assisted with getting some of the alien vegetation and graffiti in the area removed.
“Lastly, I would like to thank GNRA for sending emails to the various authorities which backed up my pleas to get services rendered in this particular suburb.”
