Ward 57 companies give jobs to locals

The community also wants to thank Jonkers for helping them.

FRANCIS Jonkers, chairperson of UP57, a youth and community development non-profit organisation, is pleased to see some of the companies in Ward 57 giving jobs to the locals.

Late last year he led a march to different companies in the ward asking them to help the unemployed youth in particular. Recently, four companies, Givaudan, QK Meats, Morgan and Safic, kept their promises to help where they can.

“I would like to thank all the companies who helped our youth. I am disappointed and sad that some of the community members who have received employment from QK Meats, have stayed away from work after receiving their salaries. However, to all these companies, thank you,” he said.

Givaudan: provided a full university student bursary and is committed to helping every year.

QK Meats: provided meat parcels and computers as well as work for the community.

Morgan: assisted with two student bursaries.

Safic: provided training for cleaning and knowledge of cleaning chemicals.

The community also wants to thank Jonkers for helping them.
