
The Johannesburg Flying Squad’s recent operation saw 14 suspects arrested from January 24 to 27.
The arrests made were for the following crimes: fraud – three, assault with grievous bodily harm – one, common robbery – one and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition – eight, possession of hijacked vehicle – one and possession of drugs – one.
Recovered
The JHB Flying Squad were able to recover the following: hijacked vehicles – four, unlicensed firearms – six, Norinco – two, Dashprod rifle – one, Z88 pistol – one, 9mm Girsan – one and .38 Special revolver and ammunition – one.
The investigations pertaining these cases are ongoing.
JHB Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution to fighting crime.
“It should also be noted that for any information regarding stolen vehicles, residents may contact the relevant detective quoting the their relevant case number,” said Sambo.
The suspects are set to appear in different magistrate’s courts soon to face charges of fraud, assault with grievous bodily harm, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, robbery common, and possession of drugs.
