It is a time to be reminded about the awe-inspiring story of Door of Hope
“Sharing the success of 21 years is a way for people to see the impact that has been made, and also to see the integrity and trustworthiness of the organisation for further good work.”

The milestone of having saved over 200 babies through its baby box and saving more than 1 700 children in total will be celebrated by Door of Hope in Glenvista on July 30.
Staff will enjoy a house party alongside babies and members of the media to celebrate this milestone and make it an extra special day for the children.
Door of Hope planned to host a gala dinner to celebrate 21 years of saving abandoned babies, but due to the current circumstances under Covid-19, this is not possible. In addition to the house party, they invite you to share in a screening of a special YouTube celebration video on August 8 at 7pm.
This can be done in the comfort of your own home. A link will be shared on their social media platforms on the day of the screening.
“We are encouraging our followers and supporters to join us from the comfort of their own homes to watch a video featuring some of the most significant people and moments that brought us to this moment,” Door of Hope CEO Richard Allen said.
“It is a time to be reminded about the awe-inspiring story of Door of Hope.
“The concept of a Baby Box, original to Door of Hope, to provide a safe place for abandoned and unwanted babies has literally been taken around the world as inspiration to open scores of other Baby Boxes in many countries, from Germany to South Korea, the US and Japan.”
According to Allen, the very first Door of Hope child will feature as a special guest in the video to share her amazing story from being a shy and timid toddler to singing a solo part with her choir at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
“Sharing the success of 21 years is a way for people to see the impact that has been made and also to see the integrity and trustworthiness of the organisation for further good work,” Allen said.
“This video will also focus on giving praise to Jesus for His faithfulness and goodness to thousands of children and the Door of Hope team. This is to say that there is hope in our often sad and desperate world, and above all to spread the message that every child matters.
“We attribute our ongoing success to Jesus Christ. God is the reason we exist and the reason we continue. He loves these children dearly. “With this, we attribute our ongoing success to being people of excellence and hard work. We do all we can to give the best possible care to the children. Donors see our integrity, trustworthiness and the good work being done.
“Stories are still being shared on a daily basis of children being thrown in rubbish bins and public toilets. On June 16, a two-month-old was found alive in a black bin bag in a rubbish bin on the coldest winter day in four years.
“Door of Hope remains crucial to our humanity. As a society, we need to say we will not let these children be forgotten or discarded.
“The house party aims to be a celebration of 21 years of service by our staff who are the people who are representative of the fact that humanity shown to babies who need a home can give them a better future.”
It is for this reason that the second part of the celebration, which is the YouTube celebration video, will be an important awareness event.
“Non-profit organisations (NPOs) such as ours rely on the support of the larger society, from government to churches, individuals and businesses. Those resources seem to be drying up for many NPOs. Also, NPOs need competent people to address the many and varied social issues and such people are not always easy to come by,” Allen said.
