Proclamation Hill children benefit from feeding station
They will be reopening Feed Station Bellavista in February and open a new feeding station in Rosettenville in March.
Feed Station Organisation SA (FEEDSO SA) helped in making the festive holiday for children of Proclamation Hill enjoyable and hosted an event on December 16, last year.
FEEDSO SA is a community-uplifting development and empowerment station.
The station aims to feed the disadvantaged, underprivileged and less fortunate as well as people going through difficulties in life. Further, they are also helping them sustain themselves through education and empowerment sessions, helping those with addictions and going through poverty with the determination to have direction in their lives.
Vinesh Moonsamy from FEEDSO SA said by the grace of God they were able to give the children stationery bags, party packs and a home-cooked meal.
“The day was filled with many blessings as we had women from the SAPS in Pretoria West come out and give the community a talk on various topics and we had the gentlemen from drug free for life there as well.
“We would like to give a huge thank you to all the sponsors who helped us make the day so special for the community and the children,” he said.
Food is an essential element of human survival. As a feeding station, they know South Africa has a high percentage of poverty, where children face the effects of hunger, which challenges their physical and intellectual growth.
The programme was initially started by Vanessa, Roxanne and Vinesh Moonsamy who have fed the children of Bellavista for the past 20 years. Vanessa’s son, Vinesh, along with Yugenthri Ebrahim, plan on continuing to uphold that legacy. The feeding station will give food to the children in and around Johannesburg.
They will be reopening Feed Station Bellavista in February and open a new feeding station in Rossettenville in March.
