Two hit by stray bullets during an altercation at Mulbarton restaurant

The victims sustained gunshot wounds and the other was transported to a nearby hospital.

Two innocent bystanders dining at a restaurant were injured after being struck by stray bullets during an altercation between a man and a woman.

The incident occurred at a restaurant in Mulbarton at about 18:30 on July 30.

It is alleged that a local man joined a table at the restaurant, where he became involved in an argument with a woman who was seated there.

According to the Mondeor CPF, the man and woman are known to each other

“The man then allegedly tried to shoot the woman but missed his target, hitting an innocent bystander in the back while he was dining at the restaurant. Another bystander’s arm was grazed by a bullet, and she sustained minor injuries,” the Mondeor CPF said in a statement.

The first victim received emergency first aid at the scene by CPF members and Fox Security and was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

Mondeor CPF members and Fox Security responded immediately, arresting the suspect and handing him over to the Mondeor SAPS.

Drugs were found in the suspect’s vehicle.

“A suspect was arrested and is charged with attempted murder,” said Captain Dube, Mondeor SAPS communications officer.
