Thank you councillor Stuart Marais of Ward 54 for your hard work
"I wish all councillors can be leaders like you."
Councillor Stuart Marais, I have to say in my capacity as a health and human rights activist, I have met and worked with many people but dedicated and passionate like you is really what we need to keep our country maintained.
What does he do?
1. Gets grass cut
2. Sorts out water issues
3. Street lights are a problem but he constantly works on that too
4. Sends out notification timeously about power outages
5. Gets involved in getting potholes repaired
6. Assists with traffic issues
7. Interested in our safety and security
8. In contact with schools to help clean up – Dalmondeor School assisting with spruit clean-up
9. Always cares for the elderly, transport them for pension collections
10. Arranges medical staff to do Covid-19 jabs at old age homes
11. On top of issues of interest to his communities
12. Not a clock watcher, does what needs to be done
13. Advises people of all new jab centres, the latest one is the Southern Suburbs Recreation Centre
14. Always thanks the medical staff – doctors, nurses and the police too
15. Remembers people who have died
16. Arranged a traffic light replacement within two days on the corner of Kliprivier Drive and Columbine Avenue.
People look forward to hearing him on Sunday evenings telling the residents what has happened or will be happening in their area. Total updates all the time.
A special thank you to councillor Stuart Marais of Ward 54, you are a true leader.
A point I have to stress, water is a commodity that is for all, not to be wasted but to be shared. During the water outages, he went out to get the water tanks to the people.
He arranged to help and he even assisted the elderly to carry the water to their homes.
I salute you for your passion to assist the people in need. But he could be doing this in the background, but his staff and himself will tell the public where the tanks would be and what time too.
Covid-19 has brought hunger, poverty, loss of jobs and so much more. Let’s work together and make a difference in our beautiful country.
Sue Lubbe, health and human rights activist
