MMC Michael Sun posted on his Facebook page, “Just received bizarre news that a car drove into the water channel feeding into Rand Water’s Suikerbosch Purification Plant. The police divers cannot conduct rescue operations unless the water is shut off. This is affecting the water supply to Joburg’s South Hill Tower zone.

Johannesburg Water is in constant communication with Rand Water and water should be restored by 20:00 this evening.”

Also in a Johannesburg Water statement, it was said that capacity into South Hills Tower has decreased because of technical issues at the Rand Water’s Suikerbosch Purification Plant.
