Man arrested for murder in Wemmerpan

The police urge the community to help them find other suspects.

Moffat View SAPS arrested a 57-year-old man for murder on March 7 at 23:00 at the corner of Wemmerpan and N17 roads in Wemmerpan.

Moffat View SAPS communications officer Sgt Solly Matjila said it is alleged that on March 7 at around 18:20, police received a complaint of a murder at the said place.

Upon arrival, they found the witness, who took them inside the bushes where the body was lying. Next to the body was broken wood with bloodstains, which was believed to be used to attack the deceased.

“The witness also informed the police four African men attacked the deceased and he knew two of the attackers and where they lived.

“A case docket of murder was registered at Moffat View SAPS and police detectives acted swiftly and followed all leads.

“One suspect was arrested and detained at Moffat View SAPS. The motive for the killing is unknown. Police are investigating,” he said.

Moffat View police urged anyone with information of the whereabouts of the other suspects to come forward or call them on 087 845 1516, 087 845 1520, Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the My SAPS app to report crime anonymously.
