Ladies of Joburg South starts a walking club

Running 4 Health, the brainchild of Roselyn Tswane and Yvette Harvey has been growing since they started the group in 2021.
Harvey discovered her passion for running and walking years ago when she lived in Pietermaritzburg.
When Harvey relocated to Johannesburg South in 2004 she started training on her own until Tswane asked her what she was doing.
“The group started with five women that walked every morning intending to be in a healthy state of mind. We are only walking in the mornings for now but will later expand with a group also walking in the evenings. Everywhere we run motorists give us respect and always show their support for us by hooting,” said Harvey.
Ben Mothupi from ACDP Region F Office recently sponsored the group with special hoodies to keep them warm when they are training in the early mornings.
Harvey further said, “We feel safe when we go for our morning walks. Our next step is to expand the group and turn it into a club. We also aim to compete in the Comrades Marathon in the future.”
