Rosettenville CIT heist case postponed

Ten accused suspects, charged with six offences each, are expected to appear in Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court on May 19.

Ten men appeared before Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court on May 5 in connection with a cash-in-transit heist that occurred in The Hill near Rosettenville.

The suspects were arrested and a further eight killed after a shoot-out between law enforcement officers and the suspects in Friars Hill Road, The Hill, on February 21.

The suspects were identified as Sihle Mazibuko (35), Qaphela Ngubeni (33), Menzi Shabalala (47), Hloniphani Dube (40), Alex Matshebele (40), Phendula Mvubu (44), Mike Ngwadi (47), Andrew Tshobolo (67), Khulekani Nkosi (36) and Kitso Mnguni (45).

They initially faced six charges which included attempted murder, murder, unlicensed firearm, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and possession of live ammunition.

The case was postponed due to changing the schedule they were charged under, which was moved from schedule five to schedule six. All suspects remain in custody.

The case has been postponed to May 19.
