WATCH: Communities have a blast on magical performances

Community members came together to experience startling performances at Smoking Pistons Race Track over the weekend.

Locals had a wonderful and fun-filled evening as flow dancers were in action on May 14 at Smoking Pistons Race Track, corner of Swartkoppies Road and Klipriver Drive.

Those that came through were glued to their seats watching multiple flow art performances through a community-based initiative called Flow Sessions.

Spearheaded by Shanna-lee Sampson, the community-based initiative hosted its biggest free entertainment event called Flowtographers Night. Fire dancing and numerous other performances were offered in the evening.

Sampson said Flow Sessions are a place of love and creativity and a place to learn.

“We come together and perform as more than 25 fire and LED dancers. Flow sessions are a time and space where we come together and enjoy Hoop, yoga, poi, fans, staff, fire spinning, balance, slacklining, juggling, photography and much more,” she said.

She said these events are completely free for photographers, flow artists and family alike and create safe spaces where they make beautiful art.

“Come join us for a Saturday or Wednesday show. We go to Smoking Pistons Race Track for Flow Sessions and Delta Park for Park Play. We have a Facebook page called Flow Sessions and an Instagram page. We have Wednesday events and big Saturday events, which happen every six weeks and every second Wednesday is always free,” explained Sampson.
