Accident in Walkerville leaves 25 injured

Four vehicles were involved in the accident on the R550 in Walkerville

An accident involving two taxis, a truck and a bakkie on the R550 close to Walkerville left 25 people injured on August 3.

Russell Meiring, communication officer for ER24, said: “ER24 and several other services arrived on the scene at 10:18 to find the bakkie and truck in one lane.

“The two taxis were found on opposite sides of the road. Medics assessed the numerous patients walking around on the scene and found that approximately 25 patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found.”

Two taxis, a bakkie and a truck were involved.

The patients were treated and taken to nearby hospitals for further care by various services.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by local authorities.
