Ligbaken wants to bring new light to the South of Johannesburg

The current schedule for Ligbaken meetings is Sundays at 09:00 am in the old NG Church Townsview, 6 Hexrivier Street, Oakdene.

Ligbaken, a new congregation in the South of Johannesburg, was founded on June 1.

Three years ago, the NG (Dutch Reformed) Deo Gloria Church, the NG Mondeor Church, and the NG Townsview Church started discussing a possible joint way forward.

As part of its mission to be light and salt to the world, the new congregation wishes to fit in with a dynamically changing and unpredictable world in which the church of Christ needs to think and act differently.

Their mission is to see the faith, hope, and love of Christ in everyone in the South of Johannesburg.

In terms of their identity, Christ and His Word are central, the reformed doctrine is a defining component, as well as the warm spirit-filled, loving community, regardless of diversity.

The Ligbaken community centre in South of Johannesburg will not be a two-hour-a-week church but will serve as a multi-purpose, multifunctional 24/7/365 centre that serves a variety of communities’ needs across diverse demographics

A community centre is being designed, financed by the sale of unnecessary church buildings and parsonages, in the most suitable church building (NG Mondeor Church).

The current schedule for Ligbaken meetings is Sundays at 09:00 am in the old NG Church Townsview, 6 Hexrivier Street, Oakdene.

It is Ligabken’s passion to establish themselves as a new congregation in the South of Johannesburg that is future-proof for the new world.
