Chrisville pensioner remembers partner with a botanical garden

The love Llewellyn has for his partner made him build her a botanical garden.

Llewellyn Gaw (73) from Chrisville has a little botanical garden in his flat specifically for his partner, Maryna Anderson who had a stroke four years ago.

He said he made this for her when she returns so that she can heal in a calm environment.

“Maryna had a stroke and was taken to a frail care facility in Pretoria. When Covid-19 started I had the idea of building this for her. This is very precious to me.

“I used bricks to build it, it has a flower bed and water feature and it is luminous at night. I put her photo in the middle of it. It also has a 1963 vase, which cost a fortune,” he said.

Llewellyn believes he is the first person to have a botanic garden in a flat. “It has drawn a lot of attention to people who visit me and they love it,” noted the pensioner.
