WATCH: Neglect and filth in West Turffontein

People deserve better living conditions.

The corner of Rosina and Jackson roads in West Turffontein is worse than a pigsty. Neglect, filth, sewage and rats are some of the problems there.

This is according to residents. One of the residents, Jean Reynecke, said the pavement and the road are caving in.

“Rats are everywhere and people are just dumping rubbish. I have reported this to everyone I can think of, and nothing is getting done.

“I phoned to report the road and pavement collapsing, but nobody got back to me. It stinks, the whole area towards Kliprivier Road. We have asked our councillor to report this. We need action taken,” she said.

Ward 55 Clr Rashieda Landis said: “I’ve done site visits and sent emails to Johannesburg Road Agency. They escalated the matter to the relevant department and that is how far it is.”

The Southern Courier is following up on the matter with the City of Johannesburg.
