Join Homeless Day celebration at Wembley stadium

The purpose of the celebration is to increase public awareness of the needs of those who experience homelessness.

The public is invited to Ikusasa Lethu Youth Project’s celebration of Homeless Day on November 8 in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

The event will be held at Wembley Stadium for the Homeless from 10:00 to 13:00.

The celebration hopes to increase public awareness of the needs of those who experience homelessness in the area and to give the public a chance to participate in the effort to combat homelessness through better funding and policy.

The shelter provides displaced people with a holistic development programme that addresses each person’s physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.

Those in need of medical attention are referred to clinics or provincial hospitals, while those in need of emotional support are referred to psychologists. Displaced people are referred to shelters by social workers.

Displaced people are taught skills such as construction, IT, matriculation, and art at the shelter. Beneficiaries are expected to be reintegrated into society following their stay at the shelter.
