Local charities benefit from The Balwin Charity Hat Walk 2022
The Balwin Charity Hat Walk 2022 saw multitudes flock in from different areas to enjoy festive fun on December 4 at Thaba Eco Village.
It was a fun-filled day at Joburg South’s Thaba Eco Village, which offered amazing trails to both young and old walkers who took part in this year’s Balwin Charity Hat Walk.
The much-enjoyable annual event saw more than a thousand walkers hit Thaba Trails in a fun, slow 5km walk.
While bringing enjoyment and uniting families, the event was hosted in aid of local charities.
Speaking for Balwin, Lisa Sinclair said: “The walk is an annual event and we raise money for different charities. We had quite a few charities on our list and instead of a Christmas party, we do this and it’s our way of giving back. We have collected over R2m this year. And we do it in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.”
All proceeds from The Balwin Charity Hat Walk T-shirt sales were donated to this year’s participating charities.
These include Endangered Wildlife Trust, Theo Jackson Fund, Little Eden, SPCA, SOJO, United Cerebral Palsy Association of SA, Salvation Army and Recycle 4 Rescue.
It also includes WESSA (the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa), Memeza Community Safety, Kids Haven NPC, Walter Sisulu Environment Centre and Rays of Hope.
Tomorrow Trust, Recycle 4 Rescue, Heart and Paws, Hotel Hope Ministries, Jicama, Kitty Kats, Place of Purpose, Sparrow Schools and Jumpstart were also among other beneficiaries.
