Meyersdal actor to reappear on TV screens in a new film, Abangani
Alberton’s Sabelo Ndumo will appear on local screens when he plays a protagonist in a new film called Abangani, which will release early next month.
Meyersdal fans of Sabelo Ndumo will again see him on their TV screens in a film called Abangani, set to air on Mzansi Magic, DStv, early next month.
The star received his Honours in live performance and motion picture medium from Afda Johannesburg in 2015.
According to Sabelo, he was nominated for the best male performer in theatre award and won the Afda award for best lead actor in a short film. Soon thereafter he made his debut in the Afrikaans TV programmes, Getrout met Rugby and Roer Jou Voete.
“One thing this field has taught me is to always adjust to different roles and situations, which has been a beneficial factor in building my name in the industry. I always do the best of my ability to nail each role I portray on the screen.
“Living in an environment that you do not understand can be very challenging, and can make one lose big opportunities that can be life-changing, so I always regulate each environment differently,” said the Alberton star.
Sabelo’s heartwarming moments
The actor has often been cast in leading roles in local TV commercials for KFC, MiWay Insurance and CTM. He has appeared in productions with seasoned actor, John Kani (Black Panther, Lion King).
He also appeared with Khani’s son, Atandwa (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Black Panther), in a short movie called The Suit, produced by Can Themba.
The film received several awards, including a Safta for the best short film, best international short at the 2017 Atlanta Bronze Lens Film Festival, best of the festival at the Urbanworld Film Festival, the audience choice award at the Shnit International Short Film Festival, and a special mention at the LA Pan-African Film Festival
“I played supporting roles in the German children’s series Dandelion, which premiered in 2019, and in Okae Molao, which won a 2017 Safta for best film made for TV. As much as I wasn’t in the main roles, this had a huge impact on my life and I will be forever grateful,” said Sabelo.
