SACDG Alberton branch to host a day of demonstrations
To showcase the gained skills through their monthly meetings, the South African Cake Decorators Guild is set to host a day of demonstrations on July 8.
The Gladiola Botha branch of the South African Cake Decorators Guild (SACDG) recently held its monthly workshop to enhance its members’ skills and plan for their upcoming event.
SACDG was established as a non-profit organisation in 1976 to foster the development of the cake decorating industry by hosting shows and demonstrations across the country.
The Alberton branch, Gladiola Botha, was named after one of its first founding members.
The branch public relations officer, Deon Swarts, said SACDG is still the cornerstone of cake decorating in South Africa. They hold people to high standards throughout their assessments. They hope to qualify them as cake decorating instructors or judges.

“We strive to maintain our high standards, improve visibility to the public, increase membership and promote assessments to those people who want to teach or become judges of cake decorating,” said Deon.
Members of the Gladiola Botha branch gather once a month to impart their knowledge, skills and love of sugar craft. Membership is open to all who are interested in cake decorating – from complete beginners to experts.
The group plans to host a day of demonstrations in Alberton on July 8.
If you would like to donate towards this special day, contact Deon at 083 307 5138.
Donations may vary from rusks, biscuits, muffins, tea, coffee, sugar, pasta and mince to make the day of demonstrations more special for the attendees as they can enjoy a scrumptious meal.
