Shoplifting investigation lead to successful arrest and imprisonment

Suspect sentenced to six months imprisonment for shoplifting.

On May 17, 2022, at 15:15 the complainant saw an unknown person taking items off the shelves in a shop.

He proceeded to watch the person and noticed that the person walked out of the shop without paying.

The complainant decided to approach the person and asked for a receipt. The person could not produce a receipt.

The complainant took him to the security room and called the police for the suspect to be arrested. The docket was given to Sergeant Angeline Radebe to investigate from Booysens SAPS.

The suspect was sentenced on May 8 this year to six months’ imprisonment of which three months are suspended for five years with the choice of acknowledgement of guilt or bail estreatment of R2 000.
