Business community and NPO on a mission to keep Rosettenville clean and safe
Those involved hope to make Rosettenville and surrounding areas safer and litter-free.
Rosettenville Business District Forum in collaboration with African-based NPO Siyazenzela Africa embarked on a clean-up campaign with the greater Rosettenville business district and surrounding areas.
The initiative is led by Monzy’s Liquors and compromises members from the car guard community together with local plastic and cardboard recyclers who give their time, effort and money.
Niresh Maibchund, the owner of Monzy’s Liquors, has made an effort to pay for an extra member to ensure that the area along Main Street is cleaned on a regular basis.
Maibchund hopes that by working together, the individuals will be the eyes and ears of the area, providing safety to visiting patrons both during the day and at night while also achieving their goal of keeping the town clean.

“We are making an urgent appeal to other businesses and Africans in the diaspora to join our #crimeandgrime campaign by making donations that can be used to purchase items that will make our work easier, as well as paying a stipend to our helpers, thereby creating ongoing employment. Bin plastics, wheelbarrows, and other everyday items are critical for us to move forward,” said Maibchund.
All donations are tax-deductible as Siyazenzela is a fully accredited NPO 242 689 with Section18A PBO 930 070 0382 SARS compliant. Certificates are available on request.
Maibchund emphasised that the NPO’s project is called #crimeandgrime, and its goal is to conduct research on ways to make their neighbourhoods safer and litter-free, as well as to collaborate with other organisations that prioritise community security and anti-litter campaigns.
