Johannesburg’s South Rand Hospital receives generous newborn packages
A heartwarming celebration of motherhood and community support unfolds as Merryladies NPO, a women-led organization based in Johannesburg South, extends a helping hand to new mothers at South Rand Hospital with essential newborn care packages.
In honour of Breastfeeding Month, Merryladies, a non-profit organisation based in Johannesburg South, has demonstrated its commitment to the community by extending a helping hand to South Rand Hospital.
They provided much-needed newborn care packages to patients at the hospital, showcasing the power of community, compassion, and shared motherhood experiences.
Founded in Johannesburg South region and with roots in Nigeria, Merryladies NPO has consistently championed the cause of giving back to the community and empowering women.

The decision to give back to South Rand Hospital, situated in the same geographic area, is a testament to their strong connection to their community.
Ola Masemene, an administrator of the NPO, emphasised the importance of supporting fellow women during their motherhood journeys.
“We are women-based NPO who are mothers and some who are soon-to-be mothers. Today’s event aimed to not only raise awareness about breastfeeding but also to let others, including those who aren’t mothers yet, understand the profound nature of motherhood,” shared Masemene.
The event served as a platform for education, empathy, and collaboration among women from diverse walks of life.
Merryladies NPO’s Breastfeeding Month celebration went beyond the distribution of essential newborn products. The event served as an invaluable opportunity for women to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another.

As part of its mission to uplift and educate, the organisation demonstrated how the act of breastfeeding plays a pivotal role in nurturing the bond between mother and child.
The event also highlighted the organisation’s dedication to providing tangible assistance to mothers in need. The newborn packages distributed were the result of contributions from sponsors and the organisation itself.
Masemene expressed gratitude for the donors who rallied behind the cause, acknowledging the challenging economic climate and the unwavering support they received.
CEO of South Rand Hospital, Simphiwe Gada, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Merryladies NPO’s thoughtful gesture.

“We are truly grateful for the generous donations and the meaningful awareness created through this event. Merryladies NPO’s commitment to supporting mothers and families aligns with our hospital’s mission, and we look forward to continued collaboration,” said Gada.
