On October 5, St Patrick’s Catholic Church in La Rochelle played host to the vibrant Festival of Nations, an event that brought together Johannesburg South residents for a day filled with international food, entertainment, children’s games, and loads of fun for the family.
Organised by the Missionaries of Hope, the festival was a celebration of diversity and community spirit.
Attendees were immersed in a world of cultural delights, and international food stalls offered a taste of dishes from around the globe, allowing visitors to sample flavours of food from different nations.

Entertainment was in full swing with performances that showcased the rich cultural heritage of various communities. Kids had a blast participating in games and activities designed just for them.
One of the highlights of the festival was the lively music and dance performances, which included traditional drumming and dancing, reminiscent of the joyful illustration of a woman dancing with a drum featured on the festival poster.

All proceeds from the Festival of Nations were directed towards the ongoing maintenance of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Parish, making the event not only a fun-filled day but also a meaningful contribution to the local community.
Father Jorge Guerra expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the festival.
“It was amazing to see so many people coming together to celebrate our diversity and support our parish,” said Father Jorge.
