St Martin’s welcomes the 2025 / 2026 high school prefect body

The new team of young leaders will carry forward the school’s values of faith, unity, and service, led by head of school Tshepang-Tumelo Boroko.

St. Martin’s is proud to announce the high school prefect body for 2025 / 2026.

This remarkable group of young leaders has been chosen to serve, inspire, and uphold the values that define the school.

The announcement ceremony was filled with pride and joy as each portfolio was revealed and the symbols of leadership were handed over.

These symbols represent faith, unity, and the spirit of service that continue to shape the heart of St Martin’s School.

At the centre of this new leadership team is Tshepang-Tumelo Boroko, the head of school, who received the school flag as a sign of trust and continuity.

The flag represents the unity and identity of St Martin’s; a community rooted in tradition, yet forward-looking in purpose. It serves as a reminder to lead with courage, humility, and pride in all that is done.

Alongside her, Thari Hlahatsi, the deputy head girl and head of chapel, accepted the crucifix: a symbol of faith, compassion, and service.

The handover reminded everyone that true leadership begins with serving others, following the example of Christ with humility and love.

The spirit stick was handed over to Mickeyas Alemu, the deputy head boy and head of school spirit and traditions, representing the heartbeat of the school. It reflects the loyalty and enthusiasm that bring the St Martin’s community together; it also serves as a reminder that leadership is about encouragement and creating a strong sense of belonging. Together, the senior leaders will carry forward the values of St Martin’s with dedication.

Congratulations were also extended to Moroesi Majavu and Tumelo Matobako, the heads of arts and culture, who bring creativity, talent, and expression to the forefront of school life.

Their leadership will ensure that the arts continue to flourish as a vital part of the holistic St Martin’s experience.

Leading the sporting portfolio, Tshenolo Mofolo and Mbofholowo Mudzunga, the heads of sports, will inspire excellence both on and off the field by fostering teamwork and discipline. Their passion reminded everyone that sport is not only about competition, but also about unity and perseverance.

Completing the leadership team are:

Michael Thomson, head of student affairs, who will ensure every learner’s voice is heard and valued;

Ruhan Nagar, head of student well-being, who will lead with compassion, promoting kindness and emotional balance;

Amariah Singh, head of community engagement, who will strengthen ties with the wider community through outreach and service; and Aya Ahmad, head of marketing, who will share the stories, achievements, and vibrant spirit of St Martin’s.

Head of School, Mr Warren Venter, said:

“This prefect body represents the very best of St Martin’s. Each young leader has shown commitment and the willingness to serve. We have every confidence that they will lead with integrity and uphold the values that make our school such a special place.”

Mrs Easton, Head of High School, added:

“Leadership at St Martin’s is about service, humility, and faith in action. We are so proud of these learners and excited to see how they will grow, inspire others, and continue the legacy of excellence in the year ahead.”
