Water relief brings hope to Ward 57 pensioners

The retirement villages received much-needed water supplies, with residents expressing joy and gratitude for the support.

More than 400 cases of clean drinking water have been distributed to retirement villages in Ward 57 following recent water disruptions.

The delivery was made in partnership with Joburg Water. Retirement villages that received water included Karina Place, Northern Place, Swinburn, Moffat View Retirement Village and Mothwa Haven.

Cllr Faeeza Chame said the initiative was aimed at supporting elderly residents during a difficult time. She expressed her gratitude to Joburg Water for working together with the ward to ensure that vulnerable members of the community were not left without access to safe drinking water.

Water is a basic need, and when the supply is interrupted, it affects everyone. Schools, hospitals, clinics and businesses all depend on a steady water supply. However, the impact is often felt most strongly by the elderly.

Residents at the retirement villages were overjoyed when the water was delivered. Many expressed relief and appreciation for the timely assistance.

Cllr Chame thanked all those involved in making the distribution possible and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the community of Ward 57.
