Glenvista’s Gerald Mariemuthoo wins Forty Under 40 Africa Award
The win highlights SA’s financial crime expertise.
Glenvista resident, Gerald Mariemuthoo, has been named a winner of the Forty Under 40 Africa awards, which took place from February 9 to 14 in Accra, Ghana.
Mariemuthoo is a Currency Integrity Investigator at the South African Reserve Bank.
This award follows his earlier recognition as a Forty Under 40 South Africa winner in October 2025.
Mariemuthoo’s win highlights his impact in financial crime prevention, investigations, and compliance.
His career spans law enforcement and strategic insight into the financial sector, making him a leader in Africa’s fight against financial crime.
The award recognises his contributions to strengthening systems and preventing wrongdoing, rather than just his professional success.

“This award is not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of integrity in our work,” said Mariemuthoo.
“I’m humbled to be part of a community that values excellence and is committed to making a difference.”
The award signals that South Africa is producing globally competitive leaders in compliance, digital evidence, and financial integrity.
Mariemuthoo’s achievement is a reminder that world-class impact can originate from local communities and institutions.
His win is expected to inspire young professionals in South Africa and across the continent.
