Booysens Court sentences man to 10 years for sexual assault

Sibusiso Khumalo (24) received a sentence of 10 years imprisonment for an attempt to commit a sexual offence and three years for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Magistrate Habib sentenced him at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on October 29.

The court ordered that the two sentences run concurrently and Khumalo was deemed unfit to possess a firearm.

Khumalo, on December 22 last year in Turffontein, unlawfully and intentionally attempted to rape a woman by undressing her and getting on top of her without her consent.

On the second count, he was found guilty of unlawfully and intentionally assaulting the victim by hitting her with open hands and fists, with the intent of causing her grievous bodily harm.
