4 in court after fatal South Hills shooting

The defence counsellors were not in court for the South Hills murder case.

Four men appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and drugs on September 8.

The court postponed their case to September 15 for address verifications and bail applications.

Their first court appearance was on September 1, following a fatal shooting near the Moffat View Police Station.

The SAPS arrested the four at a block of flats on Arlington Street, South Hills, on August 29. A 63-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head on the corner of Henderson and Anwin roads.

A fifth suspect was expected to appear at their first appearance. The Southern Courier understands that one of the original four was released on September 3, although it is unclear why.

On September 8, only three of the original four suspects and one new suspect, who was not in court on September 1, appeared.

Accused Four had legal representation, while the other three did not have defence counsel.
