Court postpones South Hills murder case to January

The minor accused has not yet applied for bail, and the matter has now been postponed to next year.

All five suspects in the South Hills murder case briefly appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on November 5.

Magistrate Habib postponed the matter to January 21 next year. Accused one to four were represented by their legal counsel, while the fifth accused, a minor, still needs to apply for bail.

The State explained that delays in the case were due to the docket being taken by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, as the incident is believed to be gang-related.

Four items are also still outstanding: the post-mortem report, ballistic report, chain statement and photo album.

All accused were warned to return to court on the next appearance date, and their bail was extended.
