Community urged not to fall victims of WhatsApp scams

Fraudsters have come up with a new WhatsApp scam that gives access to your confidential information to these con artists. The community is urged to stay vigilant.

Live Traffic brings to your attention a scam targeting the community.

Recent statistics indicated a troubling increase in WhatsApp scams, where fraudsters are cloning or hacking accounts and sending messages from familiar numbers, including those of family members and friends.

In these deceptive messages, you may receive a text that says something like, “Hi, I just sent you a code with six numbers and accidentally deleted it on my side. Please send me the code urgently.”

It is crucial not to respond to or share any codes you receive.

If you encounter such a message, delete it immediately. This is a scam designed to trick you into revealing sensitive information or providing access to your phone, banking apps, and personal data.

Responding to these messages can put you at risk for financial theft and identity fraud.

Please stay vigilant and share this warning with others in our community to help keep everyone safe.
