Robertsham Primary shines at Pan-African Debate Championships
The Robertsham Primary team earned 22 medals, four team trophies, and three individual trophies.

Twelve talented learners from Robertsham Primary School proudly represented their institution at the prestigious Pan-African Debate Championships, held at Reddam House in Bedfordview from May 16 to 18.
Facing off against skilled opponents from Kenya, they demonstrated remarkable intellect and showcased their analytical prowess, persuasive skills, and unwavering determination securing an outstanding haul of accolades.
The Robertsham Primary team earned 22 medals, four team trophies, and three individual trophies, marking a resounding success.
Their exceptional performances led to top rankings in the competition with the Grade Six team securing the number one spot, the Grade Seven team placing third and the Grade Five team ranking fifth, a testament to their dedication and skill.
The tournament, renowned for challenging young debaters with complex motions and rigorous debate formats, provided a platform for these students to demonstrate their critical thinking abilities. Their victory was met with enthusiastic praise from educators and debate enthusiasts alike.
Mr Moodley, the founder of The National Debate League and the event’s organiser, expressed admiration for the remarkable strides made in primary school debating.
“It is incredible that our teachers have inspired such exceptional growth in our primary school debaters. Just a few years ago, there weren’t any primary school debate competitions, yet today we have teams competing internationally,” he stated.
He applauded the learners for their dedication and resilience emphasising the pivotal role of educators in fostering this thriving debate culture. “Our young debaters are ambitious, resilient, and curious. I am proud of the teachers who have inspired and nurtured this culture in their debaters.”
