Water system recovery process expected to take some time

Joburg Water issues update on constrained central systems supply

Johannesburg Water’s central systems remain constrained due to poor incoming supply, causing technical faults affecting areas in Joburg south, such as South Hills and Aeroton.

Supply has improved over the past two days, with ongoing monitoring and overnight interventions for optimal distribution.

South Hills Tower supply has improved, with adequate supply and monitoring, and routine interventions planned.

Aeroton Tower has restored power and resumed pumping, supplying fairly with restoration still in progress.

Low water levels are due to reduced pumping and technical faults, with poor pressure to no water expected in higher-lying areas and pumping at reduced capacity.

“We are waiting for more information regarding the restoration of the water supply in Johannesburg South. Updates will be conveyed as soon as possible,” said Ward 56 councillor, Michael Crichton.
