Community-focused church offers support services across Alberton and JHB South

A local church is reaching out to schools, businesses and care centres with free emotional, spiritual and values-based support services.

A church in Alberton North is extending a helping hand to schools, businesses, retirement centres and other institutions through a range of community-focused services aimed at emotional, spiritual and character development support.

The AGS Alberton congregation, led by pastor Neels Snyman, has announced its intention to play a more active role in the broader Alberton community.

Centrally located and operating with a clear vision, “Growing in faith, united in Christ, we transform the community”, the church invites partnerships across various sectors to bring about meaningful change.

Snyman outlined key services the church offers:

The church offers pastoral counselling, emotional support, and motivational talks for individuals and groups aimed at creating healthier, more balanced environments in educational, professional and caregiving settings.

Positive values and character development

AGS Alberton runs values-based programmes that promote respect, integrity, responsibility and kindness. These sessions are tailored for different age groups and settings, from children to adults.

Remedial support as an alternative to disciplinary action

In response to minor behavioural challenges, the church offers restorative conversations and individual guidance. The goal is to foster insight, accountability and positive behavioural change, rather than resorting to punishment.

Event and project support

The church has also offered its assistance with logistics, supervision and planning for community events or special projects, positioning itself as a practical and reliable partner.

Snyman emphasised the church’s proactive approach.

“We believe that prevention is better than cure. That’s why we want to collaborate in building environments where people can thrive not just step in when things go wrong,” he said.

The church is seeking opportunities to meet with local organisations and leaders to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
