Motor Neuron Disease Association calls for donations to support SA families

Every contribution helps families affected by the disease feel less alone.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association of South Africa (MNDSA) is urging the public to support its work helping individuals and families affected by Motor Neurone Disease through its ‘One Donation. Lasting Change’ campaign.

MND, also known as ALS, is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement, speech, swallowing, and breathing.

The association’s role is to walk alongside patients and their families by providing practical assistance, emotional support, advocacy, and community connection.

MNDSA states in its latest awareness drive, ‘Help families facing MND feel less alone’, that every contribution makes a meaningful difference.

Where your donation goes:

• Patient and family support – Direct care and guidance for those living with MND

• Emotional and mental well-being support – Counselling and mental health resources

• Awareness and advocacy – Campaigns to improve understanding and access to care

• Community connection – Building networks so families don’t face MND in isolation

• Practical assistance and guidance – Advice on equipment, care options, and navigating the health system

MNDSA is a registered NPO (155-413) and PBO (90013853). The public can donate by visiting https://mndasouthafrica.org.

For enquiries, contact 083 467 8018.

With no cure currently available for MND, the association says community support is critical to ensuring patients maintain dignity, comfort, and connection throughout their journey.
