SASSA brings grant services closer to South Hills residents

Outreach programme at South Rand Recreation Centre aims to improve access and reduce office queues.

The South African Social Security Agency SASSA will bring its services directly to residents with an outreach programme at the South Rand Recreation Centre on June 19.

Running from 09:00 to 15:00 at 9 Geneva Road, South Hills, the event aims to make grant access easier for community members.

SASSA officials will assist with:

1. All grant applications, including the child support grant for 0-2 years and the CSG top-up.

2. All grants enquiries, for old age grant, disability grant, foster child grant, war veterans grant, care dependency grant, and others shown in the programme

The outreach forms part of SASSA’s #SASSACARES campaign to reduce long queues at local offices and improve access in underserved areas.

Applicants and caregivers must bring:

• South African 13-digit bar-coded ID card/book of applicant/caregiver

• Proof of spousal relationship: marriage certificate if married, or divorce decree

• Birth certificate of the child

• Death certificate of spouse/parent, where applicable

• Three months’ bank statement of all bank accounts and proof of income, pay slip/letter

For CSG top-up applicants specifically: Death certificate of both parents, or death certificate of one parent plus an affidavit by the applicant attesting to the unknown status of the child’s other parent.
