Rietvlei parkrun hosts special Women’s Day 5km walk/run

Rietvlei celebrates Women’s Day with fun, tutus and community spirit.

The Rietvlei parkrun marked Women’s Day with a special 5km walk or run on August 8.

The parkrun invited women, families and Joburg south community members to come out and celebrate “the strength, courage and spirit of women” in a morning of movement, connection and fun.

This year’s event had a festive dress theme.

Participants were encouraged to dress in pink and purple with tutus and fun accessories to add colour and energy to the route.

The event focused on five key themes to celebrate the strength, courage and spirit of women.

To move for your health, happiness and empowerment and to connect with an inspiring community of women of all ages.

The 5km walk/run was open to all fitness levels and ages, with both runners and walkers welcome to take part.

Participants can register and download their barcode in advance at www.parkrun.co.za to ensure their time is recorded.

The Rietvlei parkrun team thanked volunteers for making the weekly events possible and said the Women’s Day edition brought even more community spirit to the park.
