Kibler Park debate champions rewarded for provincial success

Hard work and determination paid off as Kibler Park Secondary School's award-winning debate team received valuable educational prizes, inspiring fellow learners to pursue academic excellence.

Kibler Park Secondary School recently celebrated the outstanding achievements of its debate team during a special prize-giving ceremony.

The event honoured learners who brought pride to the school after winning first place at the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (GDSACR) Provincial Human Rights Debate Competition held at the Apartheid Museum in March.

The Provincial Human Rights Debate Competition, organised in collaboration with Library and Information Services, brought together primary and secondary school learners from across Gauteng to debate important issues during Human Rights Month.

Secondary school learners debated whether the current education system provides equal, high-quality education for all, discussing challenges such as educational inequality, the digital divide, poor infrastructure, and the impact of socio-economic conditions on learning.

Kibler Park Secondary School impressed the judges with its excellent preparation, teamwork and confident presentation, earning first place in the high school category ahead of Mbongeni Mgududu Secondary School and Kgato Entle Secondary School.

During the prize-giving ceremony, the winning learners were recognised for their dedication and hard work. With the support of WOMan NPO, the learners received valuable prizes, including stationery, essential learning materials and laptops to assist them with their studies and future academic success.

The support from WOMan NPO, under the leadership of chairperson Theophellous Chabalala, reflects the organisation’s commitment to investing in young people and creating opportunities for learners to reach their full potential through education.

The award winners also hoped that their achievement would encourage other learners to believe in themselves, take part in academic activities and strive for excellence.
