Regens Park accident

I am writing this letter to the COURIER about the accident that happened on Tuesday September 17.

I woke up on that day and my stomach was a flutter, somehow, I knew that something was going to happen. I hadn’t been in the office 20 minutes when I received a call about an accident on the corner of North and East Roads in Regents Park. The scene that met my eyes was horrendous, a Metro Bus had collided with a vehicle, and seemed to have lost control, hit a taxi and an electricity pole. The bus driver unfortunately died on the scene.

On speaking to the officials of EMS, there seems to be various diagnosis, blood sugar was low, heart attack, maybe a stroke, however, the driver’s sugar level, tested at 0.02.

At this point, my deepest sympathies to the family of the bus driver that was killed, and of course to Metro Bus Company on the loss of their driver. Also to those children who seemed to know that the driver was in trouble, and helped to drive the bus for the driver. The children were also scared, and alighted from the bus in Rewlatch. They were, in fact very brave children, and I salute you! I am now going to speak as a mother of a diabetic daughter. Diabetes is known as the silent killer, it is dangerous condition, and it is so important to have blood tests done if there is diabetes in the family. Here is a man that went about his duties as a bus driver, picking up the school children, generally safely. Yesterday doing his duty, he had an accident and was killed. He was probably the only breadwinner in the family.

This is my plea to parents, wives, husbands, children who have the condition to make sure that they eat correctly, take their medicine properly and live well!!

May God bring peace to his family in this time of sadness.
