South Rand Hospital’s OT department does it again

‘We will continue to uphold all that the awards meant throughout our everyday practice’ - Occupational Therapists.

THE Occupational Therapists (OT’s) of South Rand Hospital received two awards at the Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa’s (OTASA) annual general meeting, held on June 28.

The first award was the Edward Leruli Award for Advocacy. This award was given for the display of advocacy during Occupational Therapy Week which was held in 2017.

The week was filled with many events such as showcasing contributions of the profession in paediatric and physical rehabilitation, work and productivity, community participation and geriatric care. The occupational therapists visited a number of NGOs and clinics where specific events were held as well as groups run for children and parents at the hospital.

The second was a certificate of excellence in Innovative Practise which was awarded to the occupational therapists for their excellent efforts in showcasing their innovations in geriatric care, assistive technology and community participation.

The occupational therapists at South Rand Hospital stated: “We are very proud of our achievements and will continue to work hard for the people of the community and give our utmost to provide the best service that we can for all our patients. We will continue to uphold all that the awards meant throughout our everyday practice.”
